Olympic 2, Wests 1
In cool conditons and slightly heavy underfoot, Olympic went up against Wests at Porirua Park last night. A crowd of around 300 were in attendance to watch an exciting game which could have gone either way. Wests had most of the early running with a couple of chances from crosses. The 1st goal came from a well struck free kick by Matt Wilson which he hit from outside the box into the top corner. On the stroke of halftime Olympic finnaly had a breakthrough with Wayne Rooker getting chopped down in the box and Tasker calling the penalty. Rooker buried to make it 1-1. 2nd Half began with more action and passing movements from both sides. Olympic came back into the game with posession and pressure on the Wests defence. About half way through the 2nd half Olympic delivered the killer blow with a break-away goal from Russell Kamo with a one-on-one with the keeper and sweetly taken. 2-1 and game over. Olympic spent the rest of the half consolidating their lead while Wests pressed forward looking for the equaliser. A good game for the crowd with Olympic learning from last weeks lessons on how to hold onto a lead.
