Weekend Review - Cap Football

It was a surprisingly close score line at Redwood Park, where bottom of the table Tawa hosted first placed Wellington Olympic.

Jamie Sharp, Mike Ramaekers and Conner Dunne all got on the score sheet for Tawa, the highest number of goals Tawa have scored in one game so far this season. Olympic just edged Tawa, with goals to Colm Kenny, Jamie O’Connor and their own Junior All White back from the World Cup, Van Elia. Tawa also conceded an own goal, giving Wellington Olympic four goals and the win.

In Cap Prem action, Wellington Olympic and Wellington United drew 1-1 in a particularly feisty game on Wakefield Park. Wellington United played much of the second half with ten men, after their player was red carded. Olympic’s Johnny Gerondis scored from the subsequent penalty, only for United to equalise minutes later. However, the final score wasn’t enough to lift Wellington United off the bottom of the table.
