Roller-coaster Weekend for Olympic.
With both teams coming off last week with a win, and atop of their respective tables, good fortune seemed to favour our boys in blue going into the next calendar game. Wellington Olympic Reserves were able to down Marist during wet conditions this past Saturday at Te Whaea thanks to a Luciano Calucci winner. A deserved win for the reserves who are only second to Upper Hutt City by goal difference in the Football Central Premier League. Our first team were in action today against Wairarapa United away from home. The boys got off to a rocky start as Adam Cowen chipped the advancing Sasha Nathu to put the home side 1-0 up. Pita Rabo then slotted another home to give Wairarapa a 2 goal cushion. To make matters worse, just before half-time Cowen latched onto a through ball splitting the Olympic defense, to slot it past the goalkeeper to see the home side with 3 goals to the good by the end of the first half. The second half saw our boys produce a much improved performance, but only managed to snatch one goal back through Miroslav Malivuk. The final score was 3-1.
