Marist strike late to hit final

A goal late in extra time has secured Palmerston North Marist a place in their first Chatham Cup final.

A crowd of about 600 turned out at Newtown Park yesterday to witness the home team, Wellington Olympic, narrowly miss the final. Palmerston North Marist fans who made the trip south saw their team win the nail-biter 2-1.

Marist coach Colin Tuaa was almost lost for words afterwards, both at the magnitude of the result, and also from losing his voice due to the shouting he had been doing throughout the game.
