The Apollon club has been a Wellington fixture since 1953 when it was first opened. Since then members of the Apollon Assc. have attended regular gatherings playing the popular Greek board game "Remi". With the formation of the first Greek soccer team in 1953, playing as Apollon, the clubs football identity and heritage was established. Since then Soccer has been an integral part of the The Apollon Club and its membership. In 2002 Apollon officially affiliated itself to GOYANZ and Olympic AFC with a shared lease, enabling both Associations to combine resources and move into the future.
During 2003 a major refurbishment was undertaken to establish a new home base for Olympic and GOYANZ. The $100,000 project was completed in April 2003. New facililties included a fully licensed bar, surround sound system, overhead projector and large screen, SKY TV, pool table, cafe-style tables and seating, upgraded kitchen and toilet facilities and a new paint job on the outside of the building. Capicity is 120 people. A "Greek" style menu is available to members and patrons.
The "Apollon" is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 11am to 7pm. Special events outside these hours are held on a regular basis. During the winter season players and supporters meet at the Apollon after football games, have a drink, watch sport and enjoy a meal. Special sporting events including big rugby and soccer games are held during the year.
