FIXTURES THIS WEEKEND 27 JUNE

As we get over Hump Day Wednesday, we are on the downhill to this weekend’s tasty football fixtures. We would love to see you all down at Wakefield Park to support our first team stamp their mark on this year’s Central League Competition. It is no secret that we have got off to a slow start this season, but from the intensity of last night’s training session we are looking for a big reaction from the lads.

We have both the First and Reserve Teams playing at home, so join us on the bank to watch a positive performance from both teams. Don’t forget to head into the clubrooms and sample some of the Greek  Delicacies that are on offer at the Wellington Olympic Taverna. See our menu below!!

Central League - 3:45pm Kick Off

NEW SPONSOR: WELLINGTON SEAMARKET

Wellington Olympic would like to kindly thank Wellington Seamarket for their generous support. Next time you are deciding what to eat from the Wellington Olympic Taverna, go for the fantastic Calamari, Chips and Salad from Wellington Seamarket. Whether it’s fresh fish you are after or it’s fish and chip night with the family,  give Wellington Seamarket a try, you won’t be disappointed. Wellington Seamarket can be found in Cuba Street, Lambton Quay and Lower Hutt. You can place an order by calling 0800 732 627 or email us: onlinesales@wellingtonseamarket.co.nz

HOW WE ACHIEVE FRESHNESS:
ICE, ICE, ICE!

At Wellington Seamarket, we take all measures to ensure quality. Keeping a high standard of fresh fish takes effort across the board. It begins with our  own boats, icing the fish as soon as it hits the deck! This keeps the fish at top  condition for when it lands. Our boats do short trips out to the Cook Strait, Paremata and the Westcoast, meaning the fish is not on board too long. Then it hits our shore where it is  handled carefully, re-iced and stacked into our chiller, running at well below zero! It doesn’t stay there for long though. From there it is processed through  our factory, filleted by experts to maximise recovery. This stage is imperative!  Only ask someone that has tangoed with filleting a fish before, and they’ll tell  you how easy it is to butcher it. From there, it goes straight to our shops and  slapped onto our fish window, a marvel of sculptured ice and New Zealand’s  best seafood!

WELLINGTON OLYMPIC FIXTURES THIS WEEKEND

With the exception of our 8th graders, Wellington Olympic is now in full swing. We warmly welcome all our new players and supporters to the Club and look forward to seeing you all sometime during the season. A big welcome back to our Masters, the TFTs, who have now been with the Club for an impressive 25 years, starting out, as we affectionally called them, “the Doctors”. It’s heartwarming to know that a core number of the TFTs have been playing for the same team since it first joined Olympic. That’s an exceptional feat, and one that we are really proud of!

It was great to see our Juniors back on the field last weekend. We are also ecstatic to welcome our Girls’ only teams to our Wellington Olympic family! Another “first” for our small but proud Club.
